Operation of the 'Mobile Screening Team' in Jung-gu, Seoul
Foreign-dense areas, multi-use facilities, and alleyway commercial districts... Operating on weekends in populous areas like Yaksu-dong and Cheonggu-dong
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Yang-ho) will operate a 'Mobile Screening Team' from the 17th to the 26th of this month in accordance with the strengthened government special quarantine guidelines.
Temporary screening clinics, which have been operated mainly in areas where cluster infections occurred in the early stages of COVID-19, have been actively moving to find targets left in the blind spots of COVID-19.
The 'Mobile Screening Team' is characterized by a system that runs whenever, wherever, and whoever calls, responding meticulously and quickly to find hidden infected persons.
In particular, to lead proactive preemptive testing for foreign workers working in multi-use facilities and 3-dense environments, screening teams will be installed and operated throughout Jung-gu, including alley markets, shopping districts, and foreigner-dense areas.
First, they will visit Donbusanmul Alley in Hwanghak-dong, Arirang Hill in Sindang-dong, and Central Asia Street in Gwanghui-dong to support testing for foreign workers.
For smooth preemptive testing guidance, banners written in Chinese, Russian, and other languages have been posted in places frequently visited by foreigners. It was widely promoted that free testing is available regardless of residency status, testing-related information will not be used for purposes other than quarantine, and the obligation to report illegal immigrants is exempted.
Also, they will thoroughly visit Myeongdong tourist area, Bukchang-dong food alley, traditional markets, and parks, where many visitors gather, for the benefit of surrounding merchants and residents.
In densely populated areas such as Yaksu-dong and Cheonggu-dong, weekend operations will be actively conducted so that more residents can get tested.
Along with this, Jung-gu has been operating temporary screening clinics this year by visiting various target groups and locations.
In January, clinics were installed at Hwanghak-dong Central Market and Namdaemun Market, allowing more than 700 merchants to comfortably get tested while working.
Also, each relevant department selected areas requiring preemptive COVID-19 testing, making efforts to find hidden asymptomatic confirmed cases in Dongdaemun shopping district, Jangrim-dong and Namdaemun jjokbangchon (rooming house village), Sungnyemun import shopping district, printing industry clusters, construction sites, and goshiwon (small dormitories).
In particular, on the 12th of this month, they visited Dongdaemun traditional market, which mainly operates at night, and operated from 8 p.m. to midnight to carefully take care of merchants.
