Elderly Person in Their 80s Hit and Killed by City Bus Near Cheongnyangni Station Road
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] An accident occurred in which an elderly person in their 80s crossing the road was hit and killed by a city bus.
According to the police on the 20th, at around 7:40 a.m. that day, a city bus hit an 80-year-old woman, Ms. A, on a road near Cheongnyangni Station in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.
Ms. A was taken to a nearby hospital immediately after the accident but ultimately passed away. It was reported that the bus stopped after hitting Ms. A and traveling several tens of meters further.
The accident site was a six-lane road with a railway station and market nearby, and it is known that Ms. A was walking outside of a crosswalk when the accident occurred. The police confirmed that the bus driver was not speeding and was not under the influence of alcohol.
