On the 19th, Jeonbuk Jeonju Deokjin Police Station announced that they are investigating a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of causing death by negligence under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and violating the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A is accused of hitting and killing B (11), who was riding a bicycle to school, while making a right turn in an alley in Geumam-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju City, at 8:21 a.m. on the 18th.
It was confirmed that B was on his way to school along the bicycle path when the accident occurred.
During the police investigation, the vehicle driver Mr. A reportedly stated, "I did not see the child in time." It was found that Mr. A was on his way to a newly constructed goshiwon (boarding house) site when the accident happened.
