Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Develops Nation's First 'In-house Corporate Card'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] On the 18th, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced that it has developed its own corporate card for the first time nationwide to protect local companies facing management crises due to the economic downturn.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, under the recognition that "the local economy must thrive for schools to coexist and develop," it issued its own corporate card (Jeonnam Education Regional Coexistence Card) to establish measures to revitalize the local economy.
The "Jeonnam Education Regional Coexistence Card," which can only be used in Jeonnam, requires frontline schools and affiliated institutions in the province to compulsorily execute a certain percentage or more of their entire budget using this card to protect local companies and promote the local economy.
In addition, they actively utilize regional restrictions in bidding announcements, require reasons to be stated if goods (over 1 million KRW) are purchased from other regions, and requested the opening of a "Jeonnam Company Corner" on the school marketplace (S2B) to purchase products from local companies.
They also prioritized purchasing local gift certificates or Onnuri gift certificates, and prepared various practical contract and purchase guidelines such as encouraging the use of local companies for learning supplies, books, and medicines instead of internet purchases.
In particular, to increase the willingness of faculty and staff to participate in revitalizing the local economy, they plan to build a cooperative system with related organizations by regularly conducting education in collaboration with the Small and Medium Business Corporation Honam Training Institute and the Korea Federation of SMEs.
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong urged, "I ask all institutions and faculty members to actively participate in implementing measures to revitalize the local economy so that it can be a great help to local companies going through difficult times due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic."
