The special crackdown will be conducted for one month from the 1st to the 30th of next month, following a promotion and guidance period from the 22nd to the 31st of this month. The targets of the crackdown include unreported departures and arrivals, chronic safety violations (not wearing life jackets, drunk operation, exceeding capacity), and illegal fishing operations outside territorial waters.
Over the past three years, Mokpo Maritime Police has handled a total of 146 fishing boat violation cases in the jurisdiction, among which safety violations included 14 cases of not wearing life jackets, 9 cases of operating outside designated areas, 11 cases of prohibited landings, and 5 cases of drunk operation.
Accordingly, during the special crackdown period, police substations and patrol vessels will be mobilized to strictly enforce actions against safety violations.
