According to the Daegu City Council, Councilor Hwang, who showed symptoms, was tested at a screening clinic on the 17th and was notified of a positive diagnosis on the 18th. She attended the opening of the temporary council session on the 16th but did not come on the 17th when symptoms appeared.
The quarantine authorities have begun comprehensive testing of Hwang’s family, 30 city council members, and about 130 staff members of the Jin City Council Secretariat. An epidemiological investigation is underway for those who had contact with Councilor Hwang around the 17th, when she showed COVID-19 symptoms.
Mayor Kwon Young-jin, who attended the opening of the temporary session, along with 13 Daegu city executives including the Deputy Mayors of Administration and Economy, have also undergone diagnostic tests and are awaiting results.
