[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the interior and exterior images of its new multipurpose vehicle (MPV) premium cruiser, the 'Staria,' on the 18th.
The Staria reflects Hyundai's future mobility design theme, 'Inside Out.' Inside Out is a concept that extends the spaciousness and openness of interior design to the exterior.
The Staria will be offered in two separate models: the standard model and the premium model, 'Staria Lounge.' The standard model will come in a variety of trims including Tourer (9 and 11 seats) and Cargo (3 and 5 seats), while the Staria Lounge will be available in 7 and 9-seat configurations.
The exterior of the Staria features a sleek design reminiscent of a spaceship. The front of the standard model is equipped with thin and long width lamps (positioning lamps) and daytime running lights (DRL) that span across the hood and bumper, as well as a radiator grille, headlamps, and bumper all integrated in the same body color for a cohesive look.
The side profile lowers the beltline as much as possible and applies panoramic windows to enhance the sense of openness and visibility from inside. This design was inspired by the concept of cha-kyung (借景) found in traditional Korean hanok architecture, allowing passengers to experience the scenery outside the window as an element of the interior space. The rear features a simple and smooth vertical rear lamp design and a wide rear glass to further emphasize openness.
Additionally, the premium Staria Lounge model boasts a differentiated premium design. The front of the Staria Lounge features a three-dimensional mesh pattern grille and eight ice cube-type full LED headlamps and turn signals that add volume. Chrome lines surrounding the headlamps and 18-inch diamond-pattern wheels in tinted brass color, along with tinted brass chrome applied to the front and rear bumper lower garnishes, side mirrors, and door handles, emphasize sophistication and luxury. The rear is equipped with parametric pixel design LED rear combination lamps and a lamp-shaped garnish applied above the lamps.

The interior of the Staria is inspired by a cruiser lounge sailing the sea, characterized by luxury and spaciousness.
The Staria secures ample interior space with a high overall height (1990mm), wide overall width (1995mm), and long overall length (5255mm).
Hyundai integrated a 10.25-inch infotainment and climate control panel into the center fascia and positioned a color LCD cluster at the top of the dashboard to enhance driver usability. For practicality and convenience, various storage spaces are applied below the cluster, above the overhead console, and at the upper and lower parts of the center fascia. A console integrating storage, cup holders, USB ports, and other functions is also installed.
The Staria Lounge includes lounge-exclusive convenience features and ambient mood lamps for passengers. The 7-seater is equipped with premium relaxation seats that help align the spine by pressing the hips firmly against the seat. The 9-seater features swiveling seats in the second row that can rotate 180 degrees. This allows passengers in the second and third rows to face each other for conversation and enables convenient installation of child car seats by rotating the seat 90 degrees. The Staria Lounge applies 64-color ambient mood lamps to the driver’s seat, passenger seat, center console, and door trims.
Lee Sang-yup, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor’s Design Division, said, "The Staria, which applies the Inside Out theme, is a new mobility that extends the spaciousness and openness of interior design to the exterior. With various seating models and seats, as well as the premium Staria Lounge, it will satisfy the diverse needs of not only family customers but also business customers."
