Park, Final Candidate of the Ruling Coalition: "If You Want a Fair Seoul, Choose Park Young-sun"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 17th, Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral candidate who became the unified ruling party candidate by defeating Kim Jin-ae of the Open Democratic Party, stated, "We will now unite for victory on April 7."
On this day, Park was confirmed as the final unified candidate of the ruling party after the Democratic Party of Korea and the Open Democratic Party conducted a unification vote over two days, from the 16th to the 17th, targeting Seoul citizens and party members of both parties.
As the final candidate of the pro-government camp, Park shared her reflections, saying, "It was a very pleasant unification journey."
Park emphasized, "Seoul now needs a major transformation that sets the coordinates for the next 100 years of the future," adding, "The 21-minute city Seoul is the core of this major transformation."
She also reaffirmed her pledge to become a mayor who will bring forward the dream of home ownership, promising apartments at half price, at 10 million KRW per pyeong.
She reiterated the rent reduction pledge of 30% announced earlier that morning.
Park said, "At this morning’s press conference, I stated that immediately upon taking office as mayor, we will enact the 'Good Landlord Support Ordinance' to reduce rent by 30%, with Seoul City covering 15% of the rent for good landlords. Additionally, for small business owners maintaining employment, we will introduce the Seoul-type PPP system to waive the principal as well," emphasizing, "This Seoul mayoral election must be an election that talks about a hopeful Seoul for small business owners, self-employed people, and youth suffering from COVID-19."
She also took aim at opposition candidates.
Park said to Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate, "A candidate who discriminated in children’s meals, a candidate who differentiated titles between children from wealthy and poor families, and with this old administration reminiscent of MB, we cannot expect the future of Seoul."
Targeting Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party, she criticized, "A wandering candidate who has practiced migratory politics, the epitome of old politics, for 10 years under the pretense of new politics cannot be expected to lead Seoul’s future."
Park stated, "If you want a fair Seoul, choose Park Young-sun," adding, "I will transparently disclose all decision-making processes conducted by the city."
