Gwangju Shinsegae Donates 10 Million Won for the Protection of Abused Children
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 17th that it donated 10 million won for children who are victims of abuse.
The proceeds raised through the child abuse victim protection campaign during this month were delivered in advance.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, and Han Sun-hee, Director of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation Gwangju Child Protection Agency, among others.
Recently, cases of child abuse and child abuse-related deaths at home have been increasing, and especially with the increased time spent at home due to COVID-19, child abuse incidents have occurred repeatedly, raising greater interest in children’s rights and protection.
Accordingly, Gwangju Shinsegae conducted the campaign with the purpose of recognizing children as subjects of rights, improving awareness of child abuse, preventing child abuse in advance, detecting it early, and stopping the physical and mental suffering caused by abuse.
The donated funds will be used for child abuse prevention education, children’s rights education, and psychological treatment for abused children.
