Changwon City Conducts Comprehensive Crackdown on Illegal Distribution of 'Nubijeon'
Administrative Actions Following On-Site Investigation of Suspicious Transaction Businesses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province will conduct a comprehensive crackdown from the 16th to the 31st to prevent the illegal circulation of the local currency 'Nubijeon' in Changwon City.
This comprehensive crackdown is based on the compliance requirements and penalty provisions of the "Act on the Promotion of Local Love Gift Certificates," which has been in effect since July last year, and aims to create a sound environment for using Nubijeon.
The main targets of the crackdown are acts such as receiving Nubijeon without providing goods or services, receiving Nubijeon exceeding the actual transaction amount, exchanging fraudulently obtained Nubijeon for cash, franchise owners continuously purchasing Nubijeon under another person's name and then exchanging it for cash, and violations of franchise compliance requirements.
The city will conduct a first round of monitoring using big data during the period.
In addition, the city will visit suspicious stores to investigate whether illegal circulation has occurred by checking transaction details.
To prevent the problematic practice of re-discounting (Kkang) gift certificates, which has recently been an issue in other local governments, the city will activate the reporting system.
