Starting to Create Dementia-Friendly Villages for Seniors Struggling Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 16th that it will operate visiting dementia programs such as dementia screening tests and home-visit rest centers for elderly residents in eup and myeon areas who find it difficult to visit the Dementia Safety Center.
The operation of the 'Visiting Dementia Program' is a visiting program for elderly people who have difficulty visiting the center due to COVID-19 social distancing. It was promoted to improve depression caused by COVID blue, raise awareness of dementia, and create a dementia-friendly environment through various education programs.
This 'Visiting Dementia Program' will conduct dementia screening tests for elderly people aged 65 and over using health clinics such as Hwangjeon-myeon and Sangsa-myeon, and operate various programs such as occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, brain health gymnastics, art therapy, and horticultural therapy at each home so that the elderly can participate easily and enjoyably.
The city plans to conduct dementia screening tests at Sangsa Health Clinic from tomorrow until the 19th, and operate weekly home-visit rest centers in designated dementia-safe villages such as Haeryong Seoga, Byeollyang Yongdu, Dosa Wolgok, and Seomyeon Pangyo villages.
