Recruitment of University Student Volunteers for Support and Prevention of Abused Children in Nowon-gu
Recruiting 23 University Students (Enrolled and On Leave) in Nowon-gu and Local Residents... Join the Learning and Psychological Support Mentoring Team or the Child Abuse Prevention Campaign Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that the Seoul Nowon-gu Child Protection Agency, operated directly by the district office, is recruiting university student volunteers to support and prevent child abuse.
The number of recruits is a total of 23, with 5 for the Mentoring Team and 18 for the Campaign Team.
The Mentoring Team provides support such as tutoring, companionship, and career counseling to improve the self-esteem and emotional stability of abused children. The Campaign Team conducts promotional activities to raise awareness about child abuse and enhance sensitivity to the rights of infants and young children.
The activity period is from April to December of this year.
The Mentoring Team participates at least twice a month, and the Campaign Team at least once a month. Volunteer hours are recognized through the 1362 Volunteer System, and outstanding volunteers who attend more than 80% of the sessions will be selected and awarded commendations.
Applicants must be university students enrolled (including those on leave) at universities located in Nowon-gu or residing in Nowon-gu. An official stated that priority will be given to those who keep appointments well, are sincere, and above all, have a loving heart for children.
Applications are accepted until the 19th. Applicants can download the application form from the Nowon-gu Office, Nowon-gu Child Protection Agency, or the 1365 Volunteer website, complete it, and submit it via email to the person in charge (ez7242@nowon.go.kr).
Final selections will be individually notified by phone on the 24th. After an inauguration ceremony and orientation in April, the activities will officially begin. In December, a closing presentation will be held to discuss activity impressions and suggestions for improving child abuse prevention policies based on field experiences.
Meanwhile, the district established the ‘Child Protection Agency’ in March 2018, the first among local governments nationwide, leading efforts to eradicate child abuse. Located within the Nowon Child Welfare Center (Junggye-dong), the agency is equipped with an examination room, treatment room, counseling room, and meeting room, providing counseling, education, medical and psychological treatment for abused children under 18, their families, and perpetrators.
