LG Hausys Holds the 1st LG Z:IN Interior Design Competition Awards Ceremony
Design Competition for Residential Spaces and Living Products Targeting University and Graduate Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Hausys has launched a design contest for residential spaces and living products in collaboration with young designers, aiming to establish a new design paradigm for future living spaces.
On the 16th, LG Hausys held the '1st LG Z:IN Interior Design Contest Awards Ceremony' at the LG Z:IN Interior Z:IN Square Gangnam Exhibition Hall located in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, with contest winners and LG Hausys officials in attendance.
The contest, targeting university and graduate students nationwide, accepted ideas from December last year to the end of January this year in two categories: ▲ Interior design for residential spaces tailored for oneself ▲ Living product design utilizing LG Z:IN materials.
A total of 412 ideas were submitted over two months, receiving enthusiastic interest from design major students across the country, with 44 ideas selected as award winners.
LG Hausys selected winners through a first round of internal screening and a second round of external expert evaluation: 1 Grand Prize winner (prize money of 10 million KRW), 2 Gold Prize winners (each 3 million KRW), 2 Silver Prize winners (each 1 million KRW), 8 Bronze Prize winners (each 500,000 KRW), and 31 Encouragement Prize winners (each 100,000 KRW).
The Grand Prize was awarded to Choi Da-min from Duksung Women's University for the work 'Space Walk,' which designed a new residential space for single-person households by arranging thin glass rods throughout a compact 14-pyeong (approx. 46.2 sqm) studio room to enable various activities such as studying and exercising, creating a dreamy atmosphere reminiscent of outer space.
Grand Prize, Gold Prize, and Silver Prize winners are offered internship opportunities at LG Hausys, and outstanding interns will receive the privilege of bypassing document screening and the first interview stage during open recruitment, qualifying directly for the second interview.
At the awards ceremony, Grand Prize winner Choi Da-min said, "I focused on the rapidly increasing trend of single-person households and was inspired by Van Gogh's painting 'Starry Night' to make the studio space shine more brightly with glass rods and to enable more layered activities."
LG Hausys CEO Kang Kye-woong stated, "This is the first time we have held a design contest targeting university students, who are also future customers, to widely promote LG Hausys' interior business vision and to secure outstanding talent. We plan to actively utilize the original and aesthetically excellent winning works from this contest in the development of LG Z:IN interior products and space concepts."
