Yangsan-si Issues Administrative Order Prohibiting Gatherings in Sauna and Sleeping Rooms within Bathhouses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that it has issued an administrative order banning the operation of sweating rooms and sleeping rooms within bathhouses, including changing rooms and lounges, following recent cases of COVID-19 cluster infections related to bathhouses in the province.
The prohibition order is effective from 0:00 on March 15 until midnight on the 28th, as an extraordinary measure to block potential sources of COVID-19 infection and prevent community spread.
The order applies to 57 out of 60 bathhouse businesses in the jurisdiction, excluding 3 specialized jjimjil facilities, specifically targeting sweating rooms and sleeping rooms within bathhouses, including changing rooms and lounges.
In addition, the city, together with the Yangsan City Bathhouse Business Association, will conduct focused inspections on compliance, and facilities found violating the order will be immediately reported according to the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
Furthermore, if confirmed cases arise due to violations of the administrative order, the city plans to issue an immediate ban on gatherings and claim reimbursement from the business owners for quarantine costs related to testing, investigation, and treatment of confirmed cases.
