[Golf Topic] Masters "Par 3 Contest Canceled Again This Year Due to COVID-19~"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The 'Masters Legends' Par 3 Contest has been canceled again this year.
Augusta National in Georgia, Atlanta, USA, which hosts the Masters, announced on the 16th (Korean time) that "due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, the Par 3 Contest will not be held" and "we hope to resume it next year." This marks the second consecutive year of cancellation due to COVID-19, following last year. In 2017, it was also canceled due to weather. The event is held the day before the opening, where participating players are accompanied by family members, girlfriends, or other acquaintances as caddies to play nine Par 3 holes.

It is also famous for the superstition that "no player who has won the Par 3 Contest has ever won the Masters." The Masters, which returned in April this year, will allow some galleries again. Last year, it was held without spectators in November, but this year, a limited number of patrons will be allowed on-site. However, everyone participating in the Masters must, as last year, always wear masks and maintain at least 6 feet (1.8 m) of physical distance, following the guidelines.
