Real Estate Speculation Allegations Flood 'Police Report Center' with 90 Reports on First Day of Operation
"Reviewing the Necessity of Investigation and Other Matters"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] As the police reporting center began operations to receive reports and tips regarding the real estate speculation allegations involving employees of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), it was revealed that 90 tips were received within just one day.
On the 16th, the government joint special investigation headquarters announced that a total of 90 related reports had been received through the police reporting center by 9 PM the previous day. A police official explained, "We are currently reviewing the necessity of investigation and other details."
The police have been operating a dedicated reporting center for real estate speculation since the previous day. The reporting center is headed by a senior superintendent-level officer and staffed by five specialized counseling police officers responsible for consultation and reception duties. A direct phone number (02-3150-0025) has also been established for prompt and accurate consultations.
The reporting center operates from 9 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and from 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays. The main targets for reporting include ▲illegal use of insider information by public officials or public institution employees ▲real estate speculation activities ▲disruptive acts in the real estate market, among others.
