Jeju Waters: Wando-Registered Fishing Vessel Caught for 'Operating Outside Designated Area'

According to the Jeju Coast Guard on the 15th, fishing boat A departed from Wando Port, Jeollanam-do, at around 4:20 a.m. on the 14th with 20 fishing passengers on board. It was caught by a Jeju Coast Guard patrol vessel at around 3:06 p.m. while fishing in violation of the business area 6.3 km southwest of Sasu Island, Chuja-myeon, Jeju City.
In addition, Captain B is known to have violated regulations requiring direct verification of the fishermen's IDs and recording them in the passenger list before departure by allowing fishermen without IDs to board.
The Jeju Coast Guard apprehended Captain B on charges of violating Article 27 (Business Area) and Article 33 (Entry and Exit Reporting) of the Fishing Management and Promotion Act.
