Renault Samsung Provides Electric Car 'Zoe' for Busan Youth Dream Car Project
Support for Europe's Best-Selling Electric Car 'Zoe' Instead of SM3 Z.E.
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 15th that it will provide the electric vehicle Renault Zoe (ZOE) for Busan City's 'Busan Youth Dream Car Support Project.'
The Busan Youth Dream Car Support Project provides electric vehicles for up to two years and supports vehicle rental fees for young people newly employed in the industrial complexes of the eastern and western Busan areas, where public transportation conditions are poor. Since 2018, Renault Samsung has supported this project with the electric vehicle SM3 Z.E., and from this year, it will newly support the Renault Zoe.
The Renault Zoe is equipped with a 54.5 kWh capacity battery, allowing a driving range of 309 km on a full charge. Using a 50 kW DC fast charger, it can travel approximately 150 km with just 30 minutes of charging. In particular, it features heat pump technology that recycles heat generated by the car and a battery heating system, securing a driving range of 236 km even in low-temperature winter driving conditions.
Based on these product qualities, the Renault Zoe sold 100,657 units in the European electric vehicle market last year, earning the honor of the best-selling electric vehicle annually and achieving the record of being the first electric vehicle in the European market to sell over 100,000 units in a year.
