Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Received Prior Notice of US Government's Attempts to Contact North Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Regarding foreign media reports that the U.S. Biden administration attempted to contact North Korea in mid-last month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the U.S. side shared related matters in advance."
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 14th, "We are communicating and cooperating closely throughout the entire process of the U.S. North Korea policy."
Earlier, a foreign media outlet cited an anonymous senior U.S. administration official, reporting that "since mid-last month, there have been attempts to contact the North Korean government through multiple channels, including the North Korean mission to the United Nations."
It is known that North Korea has not responded in any way so far.
The Biden administration, inaugurated in January, judged that the previous Trump administration's North Korea policy failed to prevent North Korea's nuclear development. They are reviewing the existing policy.
