View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party candidate who proposed a special investigation by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), calling it a "time-wasting show for election purposes." He argued that instead of a time-consuming special investigation, a ‘joint investigation team’ utilizing the existing prosecution office in charge of the 3rd New Towns should be formed to prevent evidence destruction as soon as possible.
On the 13th, Oh said on Facebook, "Yesterday morning, candidate Park pulled out the ‘LH special investigation’ card, and as if waiting for it, Kim Tae-nyeon, acting leader of the Democratic Party, immediately accepted it and said they would consult with the opposition party."
On the previous day, the 12th, at the election countermeasures committee launch ceremony held at Anguk Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, candidate Park said, "Yesterday, the government joint investigation team’s results confirmed additional suspected cases of speculation. It is devastating. Still, citizens do not trust it," and requested, "I formally propose a special investigation to Floor Leader Kim Tae-nyeon." In response, Floor Leader Kim said at the National Assembly that he would immediately accept the special investigation proposal.
Regarding this, candidate Oh pointed out, "As public anger surged further following the government joint investigation team’s first announcement on LH speculation allegations the day before, it seems they made a desperate move ahead of the April 7 by-election," adding, "No citizen would be unaware that this is a ‘time-wasting show’ solely for election purposes without sincerity."
He raised concerns, saying, "They wasted a week on a self-investigation and barely identified seven suspects of speculation, and now a special investigation, which takes at least a month or more for agreement and formation, has been proposed," and added, "They intend to give speculators time to destroy evidence and somehow get through this election."
He also questioned, "Wasn’t it the Democratic Party that opposed the special investigation, saying it would take one or two months to form?" and asked, "Why drag out time with dozens of special investigators when the prosecution in charge of the 3rd New Towns could be fully mobilized for the investigation?"

Candidate Oh proposed, "Even now, a joint investigation team should be formed centered on prosecutors with experience, know-how, and manpower from investigations into speculation in the 1st and 2nd New Towns, starting with raids on institutions and tracking accounts of key public officials to prevent evidence destruction."
