According to a CNN report on the 11th (local time), Eric Schmidt, the Missouri State Attorney General, revealed the charges against Boyd and Stephanie Householder, former operators of the Circle of Hope girls' school, on the 10th.
The charges against the husband, Boyd Householder, include statutory rape, second-degree statutory defamation, sexual contact with students, child abuse, second-degree child sexual assault, and child welfare endangerment, totaling 80 counts.
Stephanie, the wife, faces a total of 22 charges, including 11 counts of child abuse and neglect and 11 counts of child welfare endangerment.
Boyd forced students to do push-ups by pressing their backs with his knees or made them hit their bodies and heads against walls. He also beat them with his hands and belts and even sprayed horse manure on the students' faces.
The school was closed after 20 students escaped following media reports of the couple's crimes in August of last year.
The state prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation based on documents seized from the boarding school, interviews, and statements to assess the extent of the abuse.
Schmidt emphasized, "The Householder couple committed horrific crimes involving sexual, physical, and mental abuse of students," adding, "We will continue to investigate thoroughly to ensure that justice is served."
The Householder couple denied all charges at their first trial held on the 10th.
