[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] It was recently revealed that the biological mother of a 3-year-old girl found dead after being neglected for six months in a villa in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, is a woman in her 40s who was initially reported as the maternal grandmother. Meanwhile, DNA test results of the man identified as the girl’s biological father showed no match.
According to a report by Dong-A Ilbo on the 12th, the Gumi Police Station in Gyeongbuk secured the custody of a man who was in a relationship with the biological mother, Seok (48), and requested DNA testing at the Daegu Institute of Science and Technology to confirm the girl’s biological father.
The test results revealed that this man was not the biological father of the deceased girl. The police also summoned another man close to Seok for additional DNA testing, but his DNA also did not match. The police are reportedly focusing on identifying the biological father through further investigation of Seok.
Earlier, the police suspected that Seok disguised the girl she gave birth to as her granddaughter to hide the fact of her childbirth and swapped her with another child born to her biological daughter, Kim (22). However, Seok has denied the crime, claiming, "I have never given birth to a daughter."
In particular, the deceased girl, A (3), was reportedly raised under the name registered by Kim and her ex-husband. Seok gave birth to A but did not register her birth, and the girl born to Kim disappeared after the birth registration. Kim is currently unaware of the whereabouts of her actual daughter.
The mother and daughter gave birth around the same time, and even Kim is said to have mistaken A for her own daughter and raised her.
Meanwhile, Kim is currently detained on charges of murder and child neglect. She moved out six months ago, leaving the child alone, and A was found dead on the 10th of last month, six months later.
