LG Electronics to Launch Auto Infotainment Joint Venture 'Aluto' on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] As LG Electronics focuses on the automotive sector as its future growth engine, the Swiss software company Luxoft and the established vehicle infotainment joint venture (JV) 'Aluto' announced that it will launch on the 15th (local time).
On the 11th, LG Electronics announced through its global newsroom that Aluto will officially launch starting with an online event on the 15th of this month. Aluto will produce and sell digital cockpits, in-vehicle infotainment, and passenger car call systems based on the webOS Auto platform.
Aluto will be headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA. According to LG Electronics' quarterly report, Aluto's initial capital is 4 billion KRW, of which LG Electronics invested about 2.1 billion KRW to secure a 51% stake. Aluto's CEO will be Adam Ulway, founder of the electric vehicle charging platform startup PlugSurfing.

The two companies expect that by combining LG Electronics' software development capabilities and Luxoft's global sales channels, the synergy will enhance the competitiveness of the integrated vehicle infotainment system based on the webOS Auto platform. CEO Ulway said, "By combining industry-leading technologies such as webOS and Luxoft, we will deliver unprecedented products for the automotive market," adding, "Through webOS Auto 2.0, we will bring the living room experience into the car and present the vision for future vehicles."
