Cultural Heritage Excavation Team 'Sancheong Udongi' Formed
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Adolescents in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, have formed 'Sancheong Udongi,' a group dedicated to discovering stories about local cultural heritage and our neighborhood, and are promoting the publication of a book.
On the 12th, the Youth Participation Committee of the Sancheong-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center announced that they will carry out the 'Sancheong Udongi' project together with local related organizations.
Sancheong Udongi was established to instill the need to preserve the disappearing old local cultural heritage and to foster pride among youth. Supported by the Sancheong-eup Rural Hub Revitalization Project, it is conducted in collaboration with Sancheong-gun, the Youth Counseling Welfare Center, and the Sancheong Museum.
The participating youth plan to collect related materials under the slogan "Please tell us the disappearing old stories of Sancheong" and also promote their activities.
They are also pushing forward with the publication of a book edited from the youth’s perspective in cooperation with the Sancheong Museum. The published book will be used as supplementary educational material on local cultural heritage for youth.
The Youth Participation Committee members expressed, "We feel proud to narrow the distance to old local cultural heritage and to directly discover it," and added, "We are proud to be able to directly participate in the publication of the local cultural heritage book."
