Marine Corps Hampyeong County Veterans Association Conducts Public Facility Disinfection Activities
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Marine Corps Hampyeong County Veterans Association recently organized its own disinfection activity team and announced on the 11th that it conducts disinfection activities every Saturday targeting public facilities used by residents, such as the public terminal, Hampyeong train station, and elderly care facilities.
This Saturday will mark the 60th session, and as a result of continuing disinfection activities without missing a single week for over a year, Hampyeong County has a significantly lower incidence rate of COVID-19 patients compared to other regions.
The Marine Corps Hampyeong County Veterans Association receives only disinfectant supplies from the Hampyeong Health Center. All other costs, including protective suits, disinfection equipment, disinfection vehicles, and meal expenses, are covered by the members' personal funds.
On Hampyeong market days, they also distribute masks free of charge to residents who are not wearing masks at the market entrance.
The county highly appreciates the voluntary disinfection activities of the Marine Corps Hampyeong County Veterans Association, which have continued for over a year, and plans to award commendations from the Hampyeong County Governor to the two members who have made the greatest contributions.
Kim Jongyong, president of the Marine Corps Hampyeong County Veterans Association, said, "We did not volunteer expecting any reward; we believe it is our duty to protect the residents from COVID-19," and added, "We plan to continue disinfection activities until COVID-19 is eradicated."
