According to the Gumi Police Station on the 10th, the biological mother of the 3-year-old girl who was found dead last month on the 10th was not Ms. A (22), as initially reported, but rather her maternal grandmother, Ms. B (in her 50s), who lived in the downstairs unit, according to the investigation results.
Ms. B is the person who reported to the police after discovering the decomposing body of her granddaughter when she visited her daughter's house.
The police stated that they are treating Ms. B as a prime suspect who conspired in the crime and have taken her into custody for investigation.
This fact came to light during the police investigation when DNA tests were conducted on the deceased child and the detained Ms. A.
When no biological relationship was established between the two, the authorities expanded the DNA testing to surrounding individuals, and as a result, confirmed a biological relationship between the deceased child and maternal grandmother Ms. B.
The child previously believed to be Ms. A's daughter was actually her biological younger sister.
The police are continuing their investigation on the grounds that Ms. B gave birth to a girl around the same time as her daughter Ms. A and disguised the child as her granddaughter to conceal this fact. They are also currently trying to locate the whereabouts of the child Ms. A gave birth to at that time.
Earlier, on the 10th of last month, a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a villa in Sangmo Sagok-dong, Gumi. At that time, the child's body was partially mummified due to decomposition.

The police believe that the child most likely died of starvation. It is known that about six months had passed since the child's death, causing organ decomposition, which made it difficult to determine the exact cause of death even through an autopsy.
