Seoul City Supports 'Youth Project' with 1.8 Billion KRW to Solve Post-Corona Social Issues
The Youth Generation Directly Identifies and Solves Future Social Issues to Create Social Value
Activating the Youth Activity Ecosystem through Youth Support... Applications Accepted on Seoul Youth Portal until the 31st
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 11th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will invest 1.8 billion KRW this year to launch the ‘2021 Youth Project Support Program’ to enable the younger generation, who will proactively lead the post-COVID era, to independently identify and solve future social issues and protect their own rights.
Any activities are possible on topics such as practical measures to solve climate and environmental issues, which will become even more prominent in future society, awareness improvement activities for socially marginalized groups, and ways to revitalize aging local culture and community.
Seoul aims to represent the voices of the youth generation, who have been underrepresented in various fields such as politics, economy, and culture, and to revitalize the youth activity ecosystem by supporting youth organizations, companies, and freelancers struggling due to COVID-19.
Seoul is recruiting participants for the ‘2021 Youth Project Support Program’ with these details until the 31st.
The call for proposals theme is ‘Projects that create social value needed in the post-COVID era.’ Through the Local Subsidy Deliberation Committee’s review, about 40 projects will be selected, and a total of 1.8 billion KRW will be supported with up to 50 million KRW per organization, company, or individual. Business plan consulting, social support linkage, networking among organizations, and online/offline promotion will also be actively supported.
Eligibility requires that the representative be a youth (aged 19 to 39 as of the announcement date) and that the organization (regardless of profit or nonprofit), company, or individual be based in Seoul and able to bear at least 2% of the total subsidy as self-funding. Consortiums among youth organizations are also allowed. When youth organizations participate as a consortium with youth groups, additional points will be awarded to encourage participation not only from the youth generation but also from future generations, aiming to protect the rights of future generations.
However, participation is restricted if the applicant is currently receiving or scheduled to receive support for the same project from government agencies, Seoul city, or autonomous districts, or if they have been found to have received fraudulent payments in the past resulting in contract termination.
