Hampyeong-gun Opens Applications for Talent Development Fund Scholarships... Supporting Over 1.56 Billion KRW
Establishment of Regional Talent Scholarships... Approximately 300 Selected in 5 Fields
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will accept applications for the 2021 Talent Development Fund Scholarships (first half) for 15 days from the 12th to the 26th.
According to Hampyeong-gun on the 9th, the Hampyeong-gun Talent Development Promotion Committee, which oversees the scholarship project, recently held a regular meeting chaired by Chairman Lee Sang-ik (the county governor) and finalized the selection guidelines for the 2021 scholarship recipients.
The county will provide scholarships totaling about 1.56 billion KRW in five categories: academic excellence scholarships (new high school students and university students), welfare scholarships (high school students), and special talent scholarships (high school and university students).
Starting this year, in accordance with the county governor’s campaign pledge implementation plan, a new regional talent (university student) scholarship has been established, significantly increasing the total number of recipients from about 130 to around 500.
The maximum scholarship amount per person (regional talent) has also increased, with students attending universities in the Seoul metropolitan area eligible for up to 6 million KRW annually (selected each semester, 3 million KRW per semester), and students attending universities outside the metropolitan area eligible for up to 5 million KRW annually (selected each semester, 2.5 million KRW per semester), resulting in a total scholarship fund more than ten times larger than before.
Applicants must be students residing in the county who demonstrate exemplary conduct and excellent academic performance or talent, and meet all qualification criteria for each category, including high school and university students.
Those wishing to apply should submit the required documents, including the application form and recommendation letters (from the school principal and the head of the town or township), to the Hampyeong-gun town or township offices or their respective high schools (for enrolled students) between the 12th and 26th.
However, for university student applicants, both parents or the actual guardians must have had their resident registration address in Hampyeong-gun under the Resident Registration Act and have actually resided there from the required minimum residency period up to the announcement date of the selection (March 8, 2021). University students applying for the regional talent scholarship must also apply for the national scholarship this year first (regardless of final selection).
