Message Delivered on the 8th to Establish a Traffic Safety Culture in Children's Protection Zones
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 8th, Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin District, participated in the ‘Children’s Traffic Safety Relay Challenge’ to raise social interest and consensus on traffic safety within school zones.
The challenge, initiated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is a relay campaign that delivers the message that everyone should participate to establish a traffic safety culture prioritizing children’s safety within school zones, by nominating the next participant.
Participating in the challenge upon the nomination of Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk District, Mayor Kim Seon-gap certified his participation along with the message containing the children’s traffic safety slogan: ‘Stop at 1, Look to 2 sides, Wait for 3 seconds, Prevent 4 dangers.’
Following this, Mayor Kim recommended Kim Seok-hwan, Chairman of the Gwangjin Branch of Model Drivers, and Lee Ji-yeon, President of the Gwangjin District Green Mothers’ Association, as the next participants in the challenge.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap stated, “To prevent unfortunate accidents, it is necessary for residents to prioritize children’s safety above all else and participate actively. Our district will also do its best to create a traffic environment where children can walk safely.”

Meanwhile, to prevent children’s traffic accidents and create a safe walking environment, the district is promoting various projects within school zones, including ▲installation of pedestrian guidance lights at crosswalks ▲installation of CCTV to prevent illegal parking ▲installation of the nation’s first smart illegal parking alert system.
