Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People Party and candidate for the Seoul mayoral by-election, visited the People Power Party's Seoul City Office in Yeouido, Seoul on the 9th, greeting party officials.

[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Geum Bo-ryeong] Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the People's Party candidate for Seoul mayor, who are pushing for opposition candidate unification, showed a warm gesture by visiting each other's party headquarters. As working-level talks on the method of candidate unification are underway, this is an effort by both candidates to repeatedly express their determination to unify.
On the morning of the 9th, Candidate Ahn visited the People Power Party Seoul City Party headquarters along with Kwon Eun-hee, the floor leader of the People's Party. From the People Power Party side, Park Sung-joong, a member of the National Assembly and chairman of the Seoul City Party, welcomed Candidate Ahn and the People's Party leadership. In the afternoon, Candidate Oh returned the visit to the People's Party headquarters.
Candidate Ahn said, "I came to cheer on Chairman Park and the staff who are working hard on the front lines for the Seoul mayoral by-election," adding, "As a candidate in the opposition unification primary, I also came to greet and receive encouragement."
Candidate Ahn added, "I would like to ask for a lot of roles and help to ensure the candidate unification process proceeds smoothly," and said, "If the candidates unify, I hope we will work with one heart to win the election."
Assemblyman Park said, "I expressed my gratitude that Candidate Ahn visited the office," and added, "I asked him to win the hearts of Seoul citizens through a beautiful primary and unification and to definitely secure Seoul City."
Candidate Oh also visited the People's Party headquarters that afternoon. After the visit, Candidate Oh said, "On the 7th, we had a 90-minute beer meeting where we discussed the big picture," and added, "We will unify as quickly as possible."

Candidate Oh stated, "I have expressed our position within the agreement reached with Candidate Ahn," and said, "I believe it is neither polite nor proper for candidates to say more than that." Regarding the tense atmosphere between the working-level negotiation teams, Candidate Oh said, "Negotiations have just started; it is unlikely they will be resolved immediately," adding, "It seems like a hasty judgment. There will be ups and downs during negotiations, but since the candidates' will is strong, I believe obstacles will be well resolved between the candidates."
