Jinju-si Selected for Smart City Solution Expansion Project Competition
Smart Bus Stops, Smart Poles, Autonomous Navigation Drone Project Implementation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 8th that it has been finally selected for the ‘Smart City Solution Expansion Contest Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This contest project is part of the Smart Challenge initiative promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aimed at spreading and distributing verified excellent smart solutions to improve the quality of life for the public.
Out of 90 cities and counties nationwide that applied, Jinju City was selected and secured 2 billion KRW in national funds and 600 million KRW in provincial funds. Within this year, it plans to introduce smart city services worth a total of 4 billion KRW to provide citizens with a safe and enhanced living environment.
The city plans to introduce a smart system utilizing three advanced solutions in urban areas under the theme of ‘Healing Project for Citizens in the COVID-19 Era’: ▲Smart Bus Stops ▲Smart Poles ▲Autonomous Navigation Drones.
The ‘Smart Bus Stop’ will establish a safe waiting environment free from fine dust and various viruses, provide diverse transportation and lifestyle information through various smart devices, and serve as a citizen safety booth to prevent crimes.
The ‘Smart Pole’ will provide various lifestyle information and music streaming services using AI speakers, offering empathetic communication to give citizens emotional stability and implementing beautiful urban lighting.
To become the nation’s top drone city, the city will introduce ‘Autonomous Navigation Drones’ to develop drone-based smart administration for various purposes such as disaster response, tourism, and traffic accident management, transforming Jinju into a leading city.
Since the inauguration of Mayor Jo Gyu-il in the 7th local government, the city has systematically promoted the construction of a future city by establishing the Smart City Division through an organizational restructuring this year, achieving the success of being selected for its first contest project.
