Suncheon-si Ecological Environment Center Presents Roses in Celebration of International Women's Day
Delivering Roses and Bread with Love and Respect to Female Employees Commuting to Work
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) delivered roses and bread containing messages of love and respect to female employees reporting to work on the 8th in celebration of 'International Women's Day' by the director of the Ecological Environment Center and department heads.
The delivery of roses and bread on this Women's Day also carries the meaning of participating in helping flower farmers and small business owners who are facing difficulties due to a sharp decline in flower consumption caused by the cancellation of various events such as graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19.
A female employee who received a rose on her way to work smiled broadly and said, "I knew today was International Women's Day, but I am grateful for the surprise event and support at work like this."
A new female employee at the Suncheon Ecological Environment Center said, "On International Women's Day, I hope we can eliminate unfair discrimination and create an organizational culture where everyone is equal and respects each other."
Meanwhile, 'International Women's Day' began in 1908 when female workers in the United States protested demanding improved working conditions and voting rights, asking for bread (women's right to survival) and roses (voting rights).
