View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City announced on the 7th that Mayor Jo Gyu-il visited project sites and conducted direct inspections to revitalize the depressed old downtown area (around Jungang-dong).
They are investing 3 billion KRW in a pedestrian walkway connecting the Youth Hub House (Youth Training Center) to Jinju Fortress, and Jinju Battle Square to Jungang Market, carrying out a premium street development project that harmonizes historical symbolism, local sentiment, culture, and commercial districts.
The exteriors of public facilities installed along the walkway (cooling towers, KEPCO boxes, etc.) are being neatly refurbished with wood, and plans are in place to significantly improve the surrounding landscape by December.
The main pedestrian walkway section from Jinju Bridge to Galleria Department Store (700m) has been criticized for accelerating the decline of the old downtown due to inconsistent public facilities, monotonous and discontinuous paving, and scattered public installations.
