Gyeongbuk-do Boiso TV, YouTube Channel Earns 'Verification Badge' ... First Among Local Governments

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 25th that its official YouTube channel 'Boiso TV' has become the first among domestic local governments to obtain the 'YouTube Channel Verification Badge.'
Among all SNS channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, KakaoStory) as well as YouTube, Gyeongbuk-do is the only local government nationwide to hold verification badges on all platforms.
According to Gyeongbuk-do, the requirement for obtaining the 'verification badge' is having more than 100,000 subscribers. YouTube headquarters (Google) reviews various factors such as the channel's operation period and grants the badge after assessing qualifications like authenticity and completeness.
Famous creators such as DotiTV, the girl group Blackpink with the highest number of subscribers in Korea, KB Kookmin Bank, Hyundai Motor Company, and other representative channels from various fields have obtained the 'verification badge.' Among local governments, Boiso TV is the first.
Boiso TV, which began full-scale operation in 2019, currently has about 110,000 subscribers. It consistently presents new and fresh content rarely seen in public institutions, establishing itself as the province's representative promotional channel.
In 2020, it was recognized for the excellence of its content by sweeping the grand prize in three SNS award categories, including the 10th Korea SNS Awards Grand Prize (Minister of Science and ICT Award).

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "It is very meaningful to be the first local government to receive the verification badge at a time when YouTube is becoming a major means of promotion and communication," adding, "This year, we will focus on key projects including the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration and revitalizing people's livelihoods, as well as introducing new formats of content such as web entertainment that have never been attempted before."
