View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid declarations among ruling party lawmakers that they will "get the COVID-19 vaccine first," on the 24th, Kim Geunsik, head of strategy for the People Power Party and professor at Gyeongnam National University, criticized this as a "reign of sycophants only."
On this day, Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook, "Please stop protecting the president's mood and start protecting the people's mood," expressing his criticism.
He said, "'Assemblyman Jeong Cheong-rae, who said 'The president is not a test subject, only the people can be test subjects,' is also a sycophant," and added, "The president refuses to be the first to be vaccinated and says he will get vaccinated 'in order,' but suddenly lawmakers Park Jumin, Ko Minjung, and Jang Kyungtae say they will get vaccinated first instead of the president, and they are also boastful sycophants," sharply criticizing them.
He continued, "If the president's 'in order' vaccination is correct, then the Democratic Party sycophants should also get vaccinated 'in order' and should not get vaccinated first," and criticized, "They are just false bodyguards pretending to protect the president by even going against his wishes."
Earlier, ruling party lawmakers launched the '#I_Rolled_Up_My_Sleeves' campaign the day before to dispel distrust of the COVID-19 vaccine. They pledged to get vaccinated first if necessary to prove the vaccine's safety and alleviate public anxiety. Lawmakers Park Jumin, Ko Minjung, Jang Kyungtae, Hong Jungmin, and Lee Tanhee of the Democratic Party participated in the campaign.
Regarding this, Professor Kim pointed out, "This is not the 'Rolled Up My Sleeves' challenge but the 'Sycophant' challenge," and said, "If Democratic Party lawmakers can get vaccinated first by breaking the order, the people want the president, not them, to take the lead and get vaccinated first."
Meanwhile, Jung Eun-kyung, head of the Central Disease Control Headquarters, said on the same day regarding the country's 'first vaccine recipient' for COVID-19, "All residents, inpatients, and workers under 65 years old in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities are the first vaccination targets."
