Jeong Eui-yong Talks with UK Foreign Secretary... Expresses Willingness to Contribute to G7 Summit
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] On the 23rd, Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong had his first phone call since taking office with Dominic Raab, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Chung and Minister Raab exchanged views on mutual interests including bilateral relations, the Group of Seven (G7) summit, climate change response, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the region.
The two ministers evaluated the continued exchanges between their countries' leaders and high-level officials despite the COVID-19 situation, and agreed to further activate exchanges and cooperation this year through opportunities such as the G7 summit and the P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) summit.
Minister Chung especially expressed gratitude to the UK, the G7 chair country this year, for inviting Korea to the G7 summit, and expressed his determination to actively contribute to the advancement of G7 discussions and the resolution of international issues.
