Gyeongnam Province Conducts Integrated Inspection of Environmental Pollutant Emission Sites
591 Violations Including Unauthorized Facilities Detected Through Inspections of 3,800 Workplaces Last Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do will conduct year-round guidance and inspections to eradicate environmental pollution acts targeting 5,303 business sites in the province that emit environmental pollutants such as air and wastewater.
This guidance and inspection classify business sites into three grades (excellent, general, key) based on the size of the business and past legal violations, applying different annual inspection frequencies accordingly.
Green companies recognized for their own environmental management capabilities and self-inspection businesses will manage their sites autonomously.
On the other hand, key management business sites with poor environmental management will have increased inspection frequency to systematically and efficiently manage emission sites through selective focus.
Additionally, if multiple environmental pollutants such as air and wastewater are emitted within one business site, integrated guidance and inspection will be conducted.
To enhance administrative transparency and reliability, joint public-private inspections involving local residents and civic groups are also planned.
Furthermore, technical support projects and environmental mentoring projects supported by specialized institutions such as the Gyeongnam Green Environment Support Center will be promoted to strengthen companies' autonomous environmental management.
