Samsil-ro Ssamji Park and Samho-dong Youth Street in Yangsan City Reborn as Cultural Spaces

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, has completed the '2020 Yangsan City Public Art Project' by installing works that contain stories of local history and culture in Samil-ro Ssamji Park and Samho-dong Youth Street.
According to the city on the 22nd, 37 local artists selected through a public contest last August participated and completed the project works over seven months.
Ssamji Park, the birthplace of the March 1st Movement, newly installed art benches with the themes of liberation and memories to allow visitors to reflect on the historical significance of the place.
Youth Street installed sculptures embodying the meaning of youth and harmony in the depressed shopping district. It is expected to transform into a space where local residents can enjoy cultural life and harmonize.

A Yangsan City official said, "These works reflect the spatial characteristics through local artists. We expect it to be reborn as a cultural space that anyone can relate to."
