Seoul City Civil Affairs Judicial Police Team Inspects Businesses Reported for Violating COVID-19 Quarantine Rules
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Civil Affairs Judicial Police Unit conducted guidance and publicity on compliance with quarantine rules for businesses reported to the Seoul City Response Center following the downgrade to social distancing level 2.
President Moon Jae-in announced a strict response to government quarantine rule violations at the Blue House Senior Secretary meeting on the 15th. Following Acting Mayor Seo Jeong-hyeop's directive on the 16th to activate the crackdown window for citizen reports on facilities violating quarantine rules, a campaign for compliance with quarantine rules and strong administrative measures against violating facilities were undertaken.
The inspection targets were 308 locations reported through the Response Center complaints from the 14th of last month to the 16th of this month.
These included 53 singing practice rooms, 40 entertainment facilities, 121 general rest restaurants, with 65 violations of gathering bans, 120 violations of business hours, and 123 cases such as not wearing masks.
The Seoul Civil Affairs Judicial Police Unit (Chief Kang Seon-seop) deployed 55 investigators from the 16th to the 19th to conduct inspections.
They visited sites, checked compliance with quarantine rules, and issued cooperation notices.
The cooperation notice, issued under the name of the Chief of the Civil Affairs Judicial Police Unit, stated, “The government and Seoul City are implementing measures such as business restrictions from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day and compliance with quarantine rules within business premises in accordance with Article 49 of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.”

It also said, “Seoul City is monitoring compliance with quarantine rules at your business, and if violations are detected again, legal measures will be taken in accordance with the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.”
