[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] Seven middle school students were arrested by the police for collectively assaulting a peer student after calling them to a motel on the grounds that the victim had spoken ill of them.
According to the police, on the 20th, they announced that they have detained and are investigating seven individuals, including a middle school girl identified as A from a middle school located in Jeju City, on charges of collective assault (special assault) against one middle school student.
Girl A and others are accused of calling a student to a motel room in Jeju City around noon on the 17th and collectively assaulting them.
It is known that Girl A called the victim to the motel where she was staying and, along with other students, assaulted the victim based on the grounds that the victim had spoken ill of her.
Among the students who participated in the assault, it was confirmed that there were also male students.
Girl A had been living in the motel after running away from home and was found to have a history of school violence in the past.
The victim student is currently under protective measures provided by the school police officers.
Additionally, the police have booked and are investigating the motel owner on charges of violating the Youth Protection Act by providing a place for harmful activities to youth.
