Hwang Dal-seong (68), CEO of Geumsan Gallery, has been appointed as the president of the Korea Gallery Association.
At the regular general meeting on the 18th, the Korea Gallery Association decided on Hwang, who ran unopposed, as the 20th president. The term is two years.
Newly appointed President Hwang graduated from Korea University with a degree in geology and has operated Geumsan Gallery since 1992. He has served as the international director of the Korea Gallery Association and the secretary general of the Korea International Art Fair (KIAF). He has also held positions such as overseas advisor for the Shanghai International Art Fair, executive committee member of the Beijing International Gallery Expo, artistic director of the Heyri Asia Project, artistic director of the New York Korean Art Show, cultural event advisor for the Winter Special Olympics, and president of the Korea Print and Photography Promotion Association.

He stated, "We will promptly establish an online integrated platform to support galleries during the difficult times caused by COVID-19." He also said, "We will legalize the payment-in-kind system, allowing cultural assets and artworks to be used instead of inheritance tax, to expand the scale of the Korean art market."
