This is analyzed as a result of creating a pre-established atmosphere to refrain from homecoming and return trips by implementing a ban on private gatherings of five or more people during the Lunar New Year holiday period and conducting a campaign encouraging the participation of residents and 300,000 hometown visitors in the "Everyone Stop" movement.
In addition, administrative support such as "Online Check on Parents," "Love Call Center," and "Sharing Lunar New Year Food" was prepared for hometown visitors who did not visit their hometowns, and a total of 4,914 people received services, which is believed to have led to a strong response and an atmosphere of refraining from homecoming.
In particular, the "Love Call Center," where town and township heads paid New Year's bows to the parents of hometown visitors who did not visit their hometowns, delivered Lunar New Year gifts, and supported video calls, gained great popularity, with 481 people making video calls and 178 people receiving gifts.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "This Lunar New Year was so quiet that the festive atmosphere was hardly felt due to the sharp decrease in homecoming visitors," and added, "I thank the residents and hometown visitors who participated in the Everyone Stop campaign from last Chuseok to this Lunar New Year."
He also urged, "Until COVID-19 is eradicated, please do not let your guard down and comply with quarantine rules and social distancing to protect our safe community."
