Gwangju Dong-gu Conducts Resident Recommendation Survey for 'Book of the Year' Until Next Month 5
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 16th that it is conducting a survey to recommend candidate books for the ‘Book of the Year’ as the first project of the ‘2021 Book Reading Dong-gu’ initiative until the 5th of next month.
This survey is being conducted for the first time as a preliminary demand survey to collect residents’ opinions and understand demand in the process of selecting the Book of the Year.
The ‘Book of the Year’ project promoted by the district is a citywide reading movement aimed at creating a city that communicates and unites through books, as Dong-gu aspires to be a city of humanities.
The main content involves selecting 10 ‘Books of the Year’ by category (infants, children, adolescents, adults) through resident participation, and the selected books will be used in various reading culture programs throughout the year.
Residents can participate in the survey online via the Dong-gu mobile app ‘Dudream’, and can also recommend up to three books per person in the relevant category using survey forms available at each dong administrative welfare center.
The books recommended by residents through this survey will be reviewed by the book selection committee and finalized as the ‘Book of the Year’ through a resident preference vote.
Dong-gu plans to operate various projects starting with the ‘2021 Book Reading Dong-gu’ proclamation ceremony on April 23 (World Book Day), including ▲author lectures ▲reading together with Dong-gu residents ▲reading contests.
In particular, starting this year, to expand residents’ rights to enjoy reading culture, Dong-gu will select ‘100 Resident Recommended Books’ including the ‘Book of the Year’, and operate programs such as book support linked with local bookstores and reading culture organizations, as well as reading education (reading coaching, writing classes, book play, etc.).
