View original image[Asia Economy Reporters Jang Sehee and Lee Hyunju] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Minister of Strategy and Finance, expressed a de facto opposition stance on the 16th regarding the payment of disaster relief funds to all citizens, stating, "We need to be cautious about providing disaster relief funds to the entire population."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong attended the plenary meeting of the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee on the same day and said, "This is a matter to be judged considering quarantine, economic recovery, and fiscal conditions."
He added, "I also feel heartbroken and distressed when I see the difficulties faced by self-employed individuals and small business owners," and stated, "We will do our best to alleviate their suffering."

Regarding the direction of the supplementary budget (Chugyeong) formulation, he said, "We intend to support those in blind spots such as small business owners, self-employed individuals, and special employment types, as well as those struggling to make a living." He also showed a cautious stance about the size of the supplementary budget, saying, "It is currently under review, so it is not appropriate to talk about the scale." He dismissed the speculation about a 30 trillion won budget as "seems to be excessive speculation."
