Kakao Selects 11 Social Innovators... Monthly Support of 2 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao's corporate foundation, Kakao Impact, is selecting and supporting 11 social innovators.
On the 16th, Kakao announced, "We are launching Season 1 of the 'Kakao Impact Fellowship' to support social innovators striving to create a better world."
The Kakao Impact Fellowship is a program that selects and supports various social innovators, including social ventures, media, non-profit organizations, activists, and researchers.
On the same day, Kakao Impact revealed the 11 social innovators selected as fellows for Season 1 of the Kakao Impact Fellowship on its website. The fellowship will be conducted in seasons and is planned to grow as a core project of Kakao Impact.
The 11 selected fellows will receive a monthly activity fund of 2 million KRW for two years to enable them to consistently and stably focus on their initiatives.
Additionally, they will be able to utilize various internal and external Kakao promotional channels to raise awareness of their valuable work. Network formation support will also be provided to help diverse innovators communicate and grow together.
Fellows are selected based on a recommendation system through a recommendation network. Initial candidates are recommended by a network consisting of the Kakao Impact board and over 30 leaders from various fields, followed by final selection through a separate selection committee. Anyone can recommend candidates through the Kakao Impact website, including self-nominations, even if they are not recommendation committee members.
Season 2 is scheduled to be selected in the second half of the year, with the company aiming to support up to 30 social innovators annually.

Meanwhile, Kakao Impact is a social contribution foundation established in April 2018 to contribute to solving social problems and spreading a culture of public interest by leveraging Kakao's technological foundation and influence.
