Dongui University, Additional 1.5 Billion KRW Scholarship for New Semester ... Studying Becomes Harder Due to COVID-19
Selection and Awarding of 790 Academic Encouragement Scholarships and 1,300 Onnuri Scholarships
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui University has decided to provide an additional 1.5 billion KRW in scholarships on top of the existing scholarships for the new semester. A new scholarship fund has been established to support students from families facing difficulties due to COVID-19.
The Scholarship Support Team of the Student Welfare Office (Director Lee Cheol-gyun) at Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) announced on February 15 that a total of 1.5 billion KRW will be paid in February as additional scholarships to support tuition and living expenses for enrolled students during the 2021 new semester registration period.
Dong-Eui University will select 790 students with income levels in the 5th bracket or below and excellent academic performance to receive an academic encouragement scholarship of 1 million KRW each, totaling 790 million KRW.
Additionally, approximately 1,300 students will receive 710 million KRW through the Onnuri Scholarship, which is categorized by income level, multiple children, disabilities, and other factors.

Lee Cheol-gyun, Director of the Student Welfare Office at Dong-Eui University, stated, “The scholarship funds will be prepared using school funds, development funds (including donations from KB Kookmin Bank), and faculty and staff donation scholarships,” adding, “This special payment was made to consider the difficulties of low-income students who are balancing studies and work due to the impact of COVID-19 and the economic downturn.”
