On the same day, Chairman Kim shared a post from Jo Won-gyu dated the 26th of last month on his Facebook, which stated, "The People Power Party has changed a lot. At the center of this change is 82-year-old Chairman Kim, who is shaking the hearts of young people in their 20s and 30s who had not supported the People Power Party until now."
Jo, who served as a special advisor to former lawmaker Lee In-je, wrote about Chairman Kim’s "kneeling apology" at the Gwangju 5·18 cemetery, saying, "It felt as if the ground was shaking." He also praised Kim’s apology regarding former presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, saying, "It seemed to put an end to the People Power Party’s torturous history, represented by reactionary hardliners and old-fashioned conservatives."
Jo added, "This by-election seems to be Chairman Kim’s final test. The condition for victory is that those who failed within the party should not shake Chairman Kim," and continued, "It would be great if he is nominated as party leader, uniting the People Power Party and the people to overthrow this incompetent and rotten regime and bring about a president who will achieve integration, unification, and territorial recovery."
Some media outlets and netizens who saw the shared post criticized, saying, "Isn’t this revealing an intention to run for party leader, contrary to his previous statement that he would not run for party leader?"
Regarding sharing this post, Chairman Kim told Yonhap News in a phone interview, "I must have shared it by mistake without realizing it," and added, "I haven’t even read that post."
