84-Year-Old 'American Millionaire' Leaves 5.5 Billion Won Inheritance to Pet Dog Before Passing Away
[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] A man in the United States passed away, leaving an inheritance of 5 million dollars (approximately 5.5 billion KRW) to his pet dog.
According to ABC News in the U.S., Bill Doris, who lived in Tennessee, left an inheritance of 5 million dollars to his 8-year-old dog Lulu before he passed away last year at the age of 84. He also asked his friend Martha Burton to take care of Lulu. Currently, Burton is managing both Lulu and the inheritance.
Doris was known to have lived alone with Lulu, without a wife or children, until the end of his life. His friend Burton reportedly had been taking care of Lulu while Doris was busy with his business.
In Doris's will, it was written, "When I die, please transfer 5 million dollars into a trust to care for my Border Collie, Lulu." Doris entrusted the trust to Burton with the condition that "Lulu's every wish must be fulfilled, and they must live together."
After reading Doris's will, Burton said, "To be honest, I really don't know how to feel. He truly loved his dog," adding, "Although Lulu doesn't understand anything, she knows she is loved."
