The Daejeon District Court overturned the original sentence of 2 years imprisonment for A (30), a level 9 public official who was detained and prosecuted on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, on the 10th, and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment with 3 years probation. In addition, he was ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and was banned from employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities for 3 years.
A, who worked as a level 9 rookie public official at Daejeon Daedeok-gu Office, secretly entered the women's restroom in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, and installed illegal cameras from June 24 to July 20 of last year. He is suspected of filming parts of women's bodies about 23 times. After the crime was revealed, A was dismissed.
At the time, A committed the crime by arriving at the office about two hours early, secretly entering the women's restroom when no one was there to install the camera, and then collecting it early the next day.
A was caught by the police after a woman who noticed the illegal camera installed in the restroom reported it. The police identified A's identity through closed-circuit television (CCTV), and after interrogation, A confessed to the crime. During the police investigation, A admitted all charges and reportedly stated, "I committed the crime because I was lonely."

The appellate court explained the sentencing reason, saying, "The defendant is a first-time offender, and it appears that the filmed materials were not distributed," and "Considering that he reached an agreement with the victim and is remorseful and reflective, the original sentence was deemed heavy and was reduced."
