On the 12th, Bae Jun-young, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "We will become the hope for overcoming the national crisis in the new year."
Marking the Year of the White Ox, the People Power Party emphasized that it is time to start a history of overcoming challenges with the "Power of the People." Spokesperson Bae said, "This Lunar New Year is an especially unfamiliar one that we have 'never experienced before.' We cannot meet with our families, nor gather to perform ancestral rites," adding, "Due to failed labor policies, we are facing the worst unemployment rate in history. Due to failed real estate policies, owning a home seems impossible. Due to failed quarantine policies, many shops have closed, leaving the streets desolate."
He continued, "I am appalled that wrong politics can ruin our lives like this," but added, "We cannot just sit back hoping for the hypocritical regime to reform."
The People Power Party also expressed determination to win the by-elections scheduled for April. Spokesperson Bae said, "We will definitely win the April by-elections and establish a foothold for regime change," and added, "We will run and run again until we restore your smiles and daily lives. In the new year, we will become the hope for overcoming the national crisis."
The People Party also did not hide its sharp criticism of the ruling party. Ahn Hye-jin, spokesperson for the People Party, released a statement saying, "Thanks to COVID-19, which appears every night at 9 p.m., the streets have become quiet, and it feels as if the anguished lamentations of the people are overflowing everywhere, which breaks my heart," and pointed out, "Anger toward the cowardly government hiding behind COVID-19 and the ruling party, which has become a symbol of double standards, is stirring throughout the cities."
Spokesperson Ahn also said, "In the new year 2021, I hope that all political circles will reflect deeply and create a year filled with hope rather than despair, and joy rather than sorrow," adding, "The People Party will raise the sails of integrity and morality on the ship of justice and fairness torn apart by incompetence and hypocrisy. We will do our utmost to pull up the sinking ship of the Republic of Korea and move forward into the future together with the people."
